Greetings and welcome to my hand-spun blog+site. My photography journey has been incredible! It began with fun, then grew into passion, then I discovered profound love for it and there was no looking back. Please look around, the pictures here are the reflections of how I see the world. Enjoy exploring it.

Concert for Bangladesh

Last Saturday, the Bangladeshi community in the Greater Sacramento area organized a multinational concert to raise funds to help the recent cyclone(Sidr) victims of Bangladesh. A devastating cyclone hit the coastal areas of Bangladesh in November, 07. Thousands of lives were gone, the homes were all smashed to the ground. With no food, no shelter, people were hardly surviving. The entire country lost power, all at once, for the first time in the history of Bangladesh.

Being a Bangladeshi myself and a part of the community here, I attended the concert and helped raising funds. The concert was a great success, we were able to raise thousands of dollars that would directly go towards the victims. Indian, Pakistani, Iranian, Nepalese and US organizations were generous enough to donate big amounts to this cause. We were thankful that we could do this even when we were away from home.

The performers were the memebers of the international communities here. There were performances from Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Pakistan and US. Here are just a few pictures from the concert.

If someone had asked me a few years back if I would ever become a photographer, my answer probably would have been “no”. It was only a little over a year ago when I discovered my deepest passion for photography. I didn’t know anything about photography then. But I believed that I could learn and do it if I wanted it so bad. With strong determination and a Canon Rebel XT in my hand, I began my journey to exploring the world of event photography.

It was January of this year when I was first hired to shoot a big time birthday party of a thirteen year old. I had so much fun doing it that I wanted to keep going. April of this year was when I first assisted/second shoot a wedding with my wedding photographer Andrea Price(http://andreasimages.com/). I worked on a few weddings with her after that and I realized that wedding photography is what I really wanted to do. Thanks to Andrea for giving me the opportunity.

In the middle of this year I approached a local studio Sharpe Photographers(http://sharpephotographers.com/) in search for an opportunity to do weddings. Jeremy Underwood of Sharpe Photographers hired me to assist and second shoot with him this year. I’m so glad that I had the opportunity to work with and learn from Jeremy. He is awesome to work with!

The year 2007 is when I’ve grown into becoming a wedding photographer. I have assisted and shot weddings along with family portrait sessions and other private events. This has been a great year for me as a beginner pro. I consider myself very blessed to be able to get here today. My inspirations are countless – all the awesome photographers and their work out there inspire me; the beauty, the emotions, the special moments in lives motivate me to keep going and do better each time. I know I have a lot to learn, a long way to go and the thought of it pushes me to go further. But without my husband I couldn’t do any of it. Thanks my beloved, without you, I couldn’t have discovered the photographer in me!
